SAY WHAT! Deepika Padukone’s Mumbai reception saree took a total of 16,000 hours to make and that's almost two years-worth of labour

You think your tailor takes a long time to give you the perfect outfit? We bet he comes nowhere close to Deepika Padukone s lehenga designer. The actress has been making headlines for her wedding and reception outfits. The Padmaavat star, who recently got married to her Padmaavat co-star Ranveer Singh, was in the news for the recent wedding reception in Mumbai. The actress was seen wearing a stunning ivory and gold Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla chikankari lehenga and left everyone speechless.

A day after the actress flaunted the ensemble on the reception stage, Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla shared a peek into the making of Deepika s saree only to leave us in shock. The designers revealed that the saree Deepika wore took 16,000 man-hours to make. That roughly translates into two years-worth of labour.

We have taken it a couple of notches higher for her. We decided to give her many drapes to carry. We even designed the jewellery for her specially. It has taken approximately 16,000 men to make up Deepika's ensemble, they revealed.

Deepika and Ranveer tied the knot on November 14 in a private wedding ceremony at Lake Como in Italy. The couple got married in a Konkani style wedding followed by a wedding as per Sindhi rituals. The couple then returned to India and hosted two receptions one in Deepika s hometown Bengaluru and the other in Mumbai for their friends in the press. The couple will now host their family and friends from the film industry on December 1.
