There was a lot of talk about Alia Bhatt reuniting with Varun Dhawan for the remake of Coolie No.1. However, BollywoodLife reported that it was not Alia but Sara Ali Khan who was the frontrunner for the part played by Karisma Kapoor. Now, Sara has indeed signed on the project as per a Mumbai Mirror report. It seems Varun Dhawan was batting for Alia Bhatt but dad David Dhawan was firm on casting Sara only. Well, Varun - Alia is one of the superhit box-office jodi's of the recent years. They have done Student Of The Year 2, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania together. Kalank that releases in the coming months also features them.
On the other hand, Sara is climbing the popularity charts at amazing speed. People loved her as the strong-willed Mukku in Kedarnath and Simmba is one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. She has a great sense of humour, which was evident during her interviews. Sara, on Karan Johar's chat show, revealed that she is a huge fan of Varun and would like to do a film with him. Well, all her dreams are coming true pretty fast. Coolie No.1 was one of the biggest hits of David Dhawan, Govinda and Karisma Kapoor's career. In the film, the girl's father wants a very rich son-in-law but a vengeful match-maker gets her hitched to a coolie. Late Kader Khan played an important role in the film.
